With the red 6 cyl motor crankshafts.
Are all the cranks the same part number.
like as in the 149,161,179,186 steel crank.

And the nodular iron 138,161,186 and also the HQ on 130,173.
I thought they all had different balance weights between the different size motors. like the 253 & 308.

I have found out that the valiant cranks be it a 6 cyl HEMI 215, 245, 265 are the same part number.
So the balance weight's must be the same.

i think you will find they all start of with the same casting forging then ground and counter weights machined to suit would make production alot easyer, the eight different forgings.

Are they all the same part number.
Like all the steel cranks have the same P/N
And the Cast P/N
The 202 would have it's own P/N
As the 3.3 Blue would have it's own P/N
I don't think holden did any machining to the counter weights of what i have seen. so my guess is that the 149 crank may be absolutely no different than the 179.

An old trick back in the 70's & early 80's was when rebuilding an engine on the cheap if your 179/186 crank was not too healthy get one out of a 149 or 161 as they had never done any hard work & use it in your 179/186.

I applied the same principle and used a 215 crank in a 265 for the same reasons.

Vandals and graffiti "artists" do everyone a favour and target parking meters and fixed speed cameras only.
