Any advice on how to remove the heater/aircon assembly from the firewall of a hq? I cant get at the two hose clamps to disconnect them from the copper pipes...

Do you mean the heater pipes. If you can't remove them, just cut the rubber with a sharp knife. You are probably going to replace them a anyway..
BTW, I think they are brass.
