Dont think this issue will not affect us in the long term because its all about getting old cars off the road. Please sign the petition and help stop the rot now before it sets in.

online petitions carry no weight in a court of law

mostly they are used by scammers to get all your personal information

This topic is not on the RTA site...yet.
It was raised at the ASRF NSW DC meeting by one of the DC Reps who has had dealings with the RTA on the matter.

To quote another site...."Was led to believe that the NSW's RTA, wants all new "modified vehicles"( that includes all modified vehicles, not just rods!!)
rego'd after December 2010, to be on "concessional registration". If the owner wanted to, they could try for ICV, but would have to comply with ADR's applicable, at the time of applying for rego. As the ADR's are an ever moving "set of goal posts" ( think electronic stability control, air bags , supplimental restraint systems, to name a few ) achieving ICV status would be almost impossible for the average constructor."...unquote.

This seems to be a supplement to the "re interpreted" import rules of a few months ago.
Is it just me being paranoid or do other people see a pattern forming?

The petition asks for less information that I could find out about you in the white pages.
If you dont want to sign thats your option....I just want to be able to drive my old cars in another 5 years is all.

We need to pay close attention whenever government departments start talking about modified cars, their opinion of modified is usually way different to ours. Like the importing of hot rods in that other thread, an absolute minefield administered by people who could not care less.

People have been asking for written proof and I can understand that, unfortunately its too early in the process, the current situation is they (the RTA) have discussed draft documents with stakeholders during meetings ..... they take our input.....and hopeful amend the drafts ..... thats how consultation works

There are no mature drafts out for any form of public comment ......it is too early in the process for that,

We need to have our selfs heard so the stake holders that attend these meetings sit up and take notice of our concerns, there are currently 3346 signatures on the partition I would love to see 5X that number, we all have gear head mates from all automotive persuasions pass it around and lets get a peaceful protest happening

Set up a stand at the forthcoming NSW All Holden Day at Windsor, with a petition book.

I hear on the news today about the greens doing a deal with labour regarding the granting of preferential votes in return for senate seats. We as car lovers should be very afraid of the greens having any say. They are, i believe the influence behind all this anti fun, do as i say crap and i dare say we wont be the only group to suffer if they get their way. I beleive we all need to stand up for our freedom and not sit on our hands thinking this will go away. I reckon they are only green on the outside and bright red inside. What do you all reckon?

Tuckerbag.... you are right ...this aint going to go away unless car enthusiasts take a united stand and make it go away. The current proposal that the RTA has on the table will see the end of modified cars in NSW as we know it....with a possible "flow on" to other states if they get away with it. Anyone who plays with old cars and thinks this will not affect them has the head shoved up their.....pillow case.
