Hi guys, if a HK 186S GTS was ordered with the Saginaw Box I presume it would have had the hump in the tunnel.Would it be missing the salisbury hump if it was an early body but have it if it was a later HK ( ie they would have used a V8 manual body ) Last why does the 186S powerglidSpeedo cable not go out the same hole as the V8 chev. Cheers Bazza.

Yes it would have a hump, the Saginaw wouldn't work otherwise as you need the hump to clear the linkages. Saginaw was relatively common behind 6cyl in HK-HG ute and van as it was standard if you ordered a 4spd, but not common at all in passenger vehicles. The body wouldn't have been a V8 body, but a GTS shell with a Saginaw linkage hump pressed. It wouldn't have a Salisbury hump. V8 firewall is the same as 6cyl, just has the hole drilled/chewed out for the V8 Powerglide or Saginaw. 6cyl powerglide has the speedo cable attachment on the box on the driver's side and also has the rear mount further back so it uses another 6cyl crossmember. Chev powerglide has the speedo cable on the passenger's side and the mount further forward where the Saginaw mount is. Holden V8 powerglide uses the Chev powerglide extension housing so uses the same speedo cable (and hence hole) as the Chev box.

There is no V8 body as such. A 307 GTS with banjo diff, they do exist, would be the same body as a 6 cyinder GTS.
The same in HT, a 253 4 speed body would be the same as a 6 cylinder saginaw body, a 253 auto body the same as a 6 cylinder opel or auto body.

Also I presume the reverse switch wires coming out the firewall were in the same place for Opel and Saginaw. Any one have a picture of where they come out. Cheers Bazza.

Yes some 307 GTS have banjo, some early, some later. Many earlies also had salisbury. Salisbury only on 4 speed.
Yes the revering wires come out the same two holes, saginaw are longer.
