Excessive fuel consumption for an engine seriously lacking in low down grunt (for a V8).

gday ive got a bf xr8 and shes got plenty of grunt down low and im getting about 13-13.5 liters per 100 kays
Shes flash tuned and big exhaust and upgraded throttlebody as the factory one iswhat makes them a bit athsmatic
From personall experiance and from reading a bit about the modular v8 they are way undertuned by ford and have heaps of potential

One of my best mates had an auto BA XR8 a few years back. He replaces a 185KW VR SS with it. He still complains to this day how much slower off the mark it was than the SS and how much fuel it used which was 16-17L/100km average and he found that the trip computer would not register over 99 litres per 100km when you laid the right boot in.

He is a Ford man deep down but his current VY SS out does the BA in every department except ride quality and looks (The looks aren't that bad though they are just not as good as a BA) and uses far less fuel doing it.

On the flip side though if you were to convert an XR8 to Liquid injected LPG you would gain low down torque and reduce fuel costs at the same time. The conversion cost however can be up to $5.5K
