Ford Telstars (80's) had plastic carby base insulator blocks with an electric heater element built into it and a short lead with a 2 pin plug for easy connection. these would be way to small I think but maybe something else from a larger Mazda of a similar vintage would be closer in size. Checkout a jap wrecker.
oily
PS not sure how efficient they were.

Late XF's did have a heater plate in them...problem was this was a flow restriction and it becomes brittle and falls into the engine....I ended up flicking what was left of it and it worked fine.

What air cleaner are you running? If you are desperate for some hot air for warm up...fit a cover around part of your extractors and draw off that via the valve in snorkel of the factory XF air cleaner.

The aircleaner I am using is the Redline one suited for the 34ADM carb, the reason I need the heat on it is our winters in Kiwi land can get dam cold, it'll be ok in summer but maybe not after that.
