early HQ Statesman, these had the same mechs as the monaro allowing for the seat to flip forward. |

Same woodgrain, but different pattern brocade to the HG.
More sturdy tilt mech too. |

I think for 71/72 Deville the option cloth was called Diamond Weave (I think this is the one pictured). For 73/74 it was changed & renamed Deveraux. HK/HT Brougham seat trims were the only ones called Brocade, for HG it was called Bavere Cloth. Dr Terry |

No, the pattern & material changed each time the name changed.
The HK/T Brocade from memory was named 'Nylon Brocade' & was a very stiff material, almost like plastic, whereas most of the later ones were cloth.
As somebody mentioned, the early HQ Statesman seat (Diamond Weave) in the eBay add, has a pattern that looks similar to the HK/T Brocade but would be a much softer cloth type material.

HG brocade was exactly the same as HT & HK brocade in every brougham ive ever seen. colours changed but actual brocade material was identical.just had different stitch patterns.i havnt heard of bavere cloth being in hg brougham before. would be interested in seein or reading about it? any info ?? would be much appreciated regards dave www.bellarineclassicautos.com.auFB david smith

Bavere cloth is listed as the seat material in the HG Brougham sales brochure.
Could it be, as I mentioned earlier, that the material changed but the pattern remained the same. Does an HG Brougham have a more cloth-like material than the plasticky HK/HT Nylon Brocade ?

yes it is (ya got me there). must be just a name change then coz i have NOS of each 3 models here & they definitely all same brocade including the feel factor. none are softer or plastickier than the other

With that said, the pattern on these flebay buckets looks like the Brougham pattern from the pics (as far as I can zoom in anyway)
I can't remember seeing an HQ Statesman with this material but I would imagine even as new it would have looked outdated.

Sorry crusty, it's a different texture and pattern. As DR T said it was a plastic, rough type of fabric. Yep the HT & G are same. Just had a rummage in the garage, and the NOS back HG seat is identical to the NOS HT back cloth in pattern and feel. The old HT and HG seats are the same feel as the old hk ones there too, but after 40 odd years they feel like everything else in the shed including underfelt. this is a better shot of the pattern http://www.dragtimes.com...MONARO_400192080456.htmlhttp://liveimages.carsal...te/carpoint/10364791.jpgThere is a cloth pattern that I have that is for a HT or G that is different than both HQ & brougham; it would have been on the "better class of car".
