Hi Adam,
Let me guess, the cheap Bunnings one has the conical shape end which fits into the tap body? These are crap, I've never had any luck with them and they damage the thread in the tap body as it cross-threads in order to get grip.

The one to look for is the type that has the same thread as the tap body which screws in and locks once in far enough. This type ensures the cutting bit on the end is at exactly 90 degrees to the surface you are re-seating.

I borrowed one off a plumber last time I needed one but I doubt this style would be any more than $50 for a no name brand. It should come with a few different threaded fittings as not all tap bodies are the same. I have also seen a similar type which fits onto the end of a drill and you apply light pressure at high speed to get a nicely reseated surface.

Hope that helps!
Rhys

Thanks: 1 times
The hydroseal is the go but be careful, had a guy call us one day saying he tried to reseat his shower tap but now it won't turn off at all. Turns out he got carried away and removed the whole seat.
Goes without saying he was upset when told we had to knock a hole in the wall and replace the whole breeching piece

Was at Bunnings today getting a few things for a job and noticed the Hydroseal Tap Reseater there for $28, better value than any plumbing supplies shop.

Cheers Mark.
