help, what would be the best head work on a street driven 2 ltr escort
hi guys, im wanting to do some performance upgrade to my 2ltr head on my '80 escort sundowner replica

i've notice there's starting to be quite a lot of oil running down the block from between the head and the block, needs a new head gasket im thinking? so i thought while i take the head of for a new gasket i might as well do some head work on my spare head for performance upgrade, im thinking a mild cam, but i want to know what would bet the best sized cam to use for street use?

what else can be done for better performance? i heard port n poilshed is old fashioned now as people found out it restricts flow some how? is this right?

can someone give me ideas what to do?

Alright I'm Holden/GM biased, but improving gas flow= performance gains. Pushrod, SOHC, DOHC, it will make a diference. I's be googling US & UK ford forums. The frod 2 litre boat anchor (or the 2.3 liter US version) has plenty of history. Think it was sold in Germany too. So brush up on ya German. And I don't mean "Das ist gut, das is fantasich" stuff we pick up from German porn ( no wonder they get the urge to conquer Europe every so often!)
