Im resurrecting my Monaro and re painting it closer to original. Im seeking information on paint specifications.
1. Is there somewhere I can access a file online with HK GTS stripe dimensions.
2. What is the exact position of the Monaro and GTS badges.
3. Are the stripes a hi gloss black.
4. I have black interior, is the dash hi gloss black or a satin black.
5. Are the front guards painted black inside the eyebrow trim. Gloss or satin.
6. What black is used in the engine bay, is it the same as behind the grill.
7. Is the upper vinyl door trim material available

If you go to the Yahoo Monaroclub group I put files there for HK and HT stripes. Badges are a bit harder. |

1) they are also in Monaro Magic book.
2) If you use the original guards, bonnet and boot they have the holse in the right spot, otherwise find an unmolested car.
3) Warrigal Black
4) Suede finish on dash
5) Yes, Warrigal black
6) GMH chassis black
7) Yes

Depending on how accurate you are doing things but the black paint inside the eyebrow mould on the front fender was brushed on from factory, not sprayed. If your vehicle is a GTS, the engine bay was painted Warrigal Black, as was the Premier/Brougham. Other models were GMH black. Firewall shade matched the boot black shade. This will differ from the engine bay shade. Make sure you mask up to the 10 holes that secure your wiper cowls for the black on that panel. There was a car entered in concours at the Monaro Nationals last year that had its body colour revealed under the bonnet seal because they had masked it in the wrong spot. As Warren said, suede (flat, not matt) finish to the top of the dash and upper inner pillars. No gloss in these areas due to reflection. Mask through the dashpad holes as done in the factory. The rest of the dash, column etc is low gloss (satin) finish. If you are using dodgy repro badges, the locating holes differ from originals. Better to restore originals and make a paper template off an original car. I can photo copy or email for you the HK stripe locations. 0409 691 119. [email protected] Simon. |
