Just talking to Mike re the September to September year on the VIN, we noticed that a December 05 VZ V8 has a 5 in the VIN, but should have a 6.
Can any owners of VZs built between September and Decmeber 05 check the year digit (before the L on the VIN) and see if V6 cars have the 5 or 6.
Our theory is the new pollution laws due in for 2006 year manufacture require the 5.7 V8 to be listed as a 2005.
Any help appreciated.

All VZ monaros used a 5, and HSV LS2 coupes used a 5 and then changed to 6. Recon the changeover was between 544500 and 545800 in the VIN.....mid December for the HSV coupes???

Thanks Marty,
A quick check this afternoon found that all 10/05 to 12/05 have the 5 in the VIN.
Interestingly the following happens:
4 in VIN = built between 9/03 and 8/04 5 in VIN = Built between 9/04 and 12/05 6 in VIN = built between 1/06 and 8/06
This makes the 05 year the longest VIN year and the 06 the shortest.
Any one know why????
