Was talking to a guy yesterday and he swears he bought a brand new HT GTS in daytona bronze, with a factory fitted 327 4 speed.when he ordered it the dealer said it couldnt happen but went to his house week later and said it could be done for a extra 300-400 dollars,he said all up it cost approx $3700.00.I have never heard of a HT 327.Would the monaro guru's out there know of any?
He sold it 10 years later to buy a house but he would love to know where it went. cheers

The first HT 1837 completed actually had a 327 in it as 350 was not yet available here. Second car is the Pagewood #1 Verdoro Green car that was sold recently and it was a 350 as were the rest of them. I doubt any more were made but I suppose anything may have been possible. Are you sure he wasn't getting his wires crossed and was talking about a 307 4spd?.

I believe It was a HT 350 in Sebring Orange and had a 327 fitted from Factory . The Number Plate was KHJ-071 and was a local car in Melbourne years ago. The car featured in period Wheels /Modern Motor etc.. articles in cartoon format with this number plate , hence being such an early car. I saw a pic of the car somewhere in the last few years and i think someone has retured it to a 350 engine not knowing what it started life as . Or maybe someone has just revived the old rego on a Sebring Orange car after seeing the period articles ??? Either way the real car had 350 Badges on it from new though which is the funny part of it . Hope that helps

1) firstly the No 1 car from Adelaide, this car wears the KHJ-071 nunber plate (and still does today, I saw the car at Wangeratta in 1998 and it had a 350 fitted to it then) and was featured in 2 ads, the "cartoon" front on shot with number plate and the "scorching success" ad. (a black and white version shows the number plate, the colour has a mock plate drawn on). The second ad shows the car was not fitted with the mandatory side stripes. It is believed that this car was fitted with a 327 second type engine, as it is believed there were no 350 engines in the country at the time the car was built. This theory is backed by the no 2 car from Adelaide, it was also built at the same time as the No 1 car, in early 1969, but did not have an engine fitted until 1970.

2) As the 350 was very new, I do not understand how any research on the 327 would help, a bit like buying a 71 HQ but wanting a 186 as it is better then the 202, not enough data would exist to confirm or deny.

3) If the car was fitted with a 327, it would have been a second type engine. That being the case the only visual difference would be the sticker on the air cleaner.

4) The price is not quite right, as this is cheaper than the HK GTS 327. The basic GTS 186S was $3183, 253 was $3423, the 350 was $3995 (HK were 186S $3090, the 327 $3790)

5) My money would be on the dealer ordered a 350, changed the air cleaner decal and changed the numbers on the side, about $20 back then.

Love it! Reminds me of the young WA copper who requested that I pop the bonnet on the HK and when confronted with a bank of triple DCOEs asked if it was a six cylinder or a V8.
