Hi there all, I have just found that you can't buy an aftermarket short shaft waterpump for 253/308 with the metal shim behind the impeller fitting the sealing area between pump and timing cover. We looked at every brand on the market and it would appear the pumps are made without it nowdays. Because this shim is about 3mm thick when you fit one of these pumps the pump is 3mm closer to the engine and the fanbelt rubs on power steer belt. Also the waterpump pulley won't line up with alternator and balancer. Does anyone have an old stock 94mm pump (prefer no asian crap) they wish to sell with the shim fitted? Many thanks, tony.

Best bet is to buy the longer pump (off mid HZ/VB red motor onwards) with the shim and use a pulley off one of these later engines too. Everything lines up fine, you just have to shorten the fan spacer (or use a shorter fan spacer).
