My OLD VY SS manual engine fault came up.
I have pressed the mode button when starting it up and kept an eye out for any thing, all looks ok and the fault code say noting, all oooo's.
I think the alternator could be on the way out as the warning comes on only some times when revs are low and when more revs it goes out.

Does the speedo drop out too? When the in-law's WK shat it's alternator, it didn't actually give an alternator light on the dash, it just came up with a check engine light (CEL). No fault codes were stored. However, it did randomly drop out the speedo, at the same time as the CEL came on.

I got the cluster into the mode where it shows the battery voltage, took it for a drive, and each time the speedo dropped & the light came on, the voltage also dropped below 11.5V
Cheers,

Mick

Found out what it was, it was the PVB she had a small crack starting at the joint at the rear of the motor. i seen some oil weeping there and on closer inspection found the bloody thing come apart in my hand, the rubber had perished on both the back and the one going into the throttle body.
$100 for a new one, and it's a new and improved type.

I think you mean the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) plumbing. This is common on Gen 3 V8s, the replacement ones are a better design.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
