I had a low mile white HR 186s Premier auto about 10yrs ago that was a showroom display car for a Holden dealership when new. Had most Nasco accesories but one I have never seen before or since. It had a radio fader that sat below the dash. It had it's own mock wood facia that matched the rest of the car. Also had rear speaker. This was an original unmessed with car and was not an after market fitment. Anyone seen this option before.

I saw a similar unit in the 70s.

It was made using a cut & shut version of the Premier (timber tone) radio blank. They used the balance control from a 66/67 Chev which is the same unit as HK/T/G. An HD/HR Air Chief radio knob was then fitted. It really looked like the factory put it there.

The rear speaker & fader had been available for Holdens as a Nasco accessory since EJ & earlier, but the control had a plain (generic) knob, with the unit almost hidden under the dash.

In those days they had some very inventive guys working at the dealerships.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Thanks Terry. Sounds like mine was done the same way with the air chief control knob. The original owner purchased it new with it fitted. Looked very much factory fitted. Will go through some old pics and see if I have a clear shot and put it up.
