I've never seen one of theese but they must have built them for the chassis number to be so high. Quotes a 2.78:1 diff too which is wierd too as these were all but gone by the end of HX. http://www.ebay.com.au/i...Cars&hash=item3cc9227a1a |

HK your comment on this interests me too especially in relation to the diff. I used to own a VH SLE 4.2 Trimatic and it had a 2.78 baby banjo (oops silly me I meant baby salisbury diff - I should not stay up late watching the olympics). I did not like the performance so swapped it for a 10 bolt 3.08 LSD. (I still have the 2.78 in the shed). I have the VB, VC and VH workshop manuals and they indicate the 2.78 was the standard rear axle on a 4.2 tri car in all three models. It also appears tho that they were only available in the 4.2. Were there not many VBs built in Sydney? This looks to be another one: http://australianmusclec...6663-vb-sle-commodore-v8Edited by user Wednesday, 1 August 2012 6:29:45 PM(UTC)

Sydney built VBs and VCs - After VC the Commodore production dropped back to the 3 other plants, then after VH, it went down to 2, and finally after VL, down to 1. Most of the Pagewood VBs I've seen have been SL/Es, but the VCs are usually L & SL models. Yet to find a Pagewood VC SL/E.
The 2.78:1 diff lived on behind 202 & 253 to the end of the VH era, in small sals form. Large sals in Commodores had dropped to 3.08 & 2.60 ratios by then. |

Of course, I forgot the 253 had a disguised banjo! I was thinking big Salisbury where the 2.78 was replaced by the 2.6. Probably thinking with blinkers on as i've never taken much interest in Commodores, but I thought they were all Dandenong! You learn something new everyday. |

On the face of it, I think this is probably one: http://australianmusclec...c-sle-commodore-334-pack

Yep, tag number & body number are spot on for a Pagewood car. Another one for the list. Thanks. |
