Currently wiring up a WB Caprice dash.
Main & dashloom appear to be complete and unmolested.

The problem I have is that the wiper dwell switch wiring has been cut about 2" from the switch. (no loom)
There is a 6 pin female connector on the main loom that I believe the wiper dwell switch would normally plug into.

The traffic indicator stalk which contains the wiper/washer & high beam control also has nothing to plug into.

I'm guessing that the missing section of wiper dwell loom may also contain the female connector, for the trafficator multi pin male connector to plug into.

Am I correct, and if so, can anyone provide me with a picture of this "mini" loom.....or a thumbnail sketch of which wires connect to which, and what connectors attach to that loom?

You'll find the connectors are likely to be the same as VB-VC commodore (if the blinker arm has a long, single row connector like HZ) or VH-VK commodore if it has the rectangular connector with 2 rows of pins. That should make your search for connectors a lot easier.
Cheers,

Mick

It's been a few years but I don't think the wiper dwell switch had a 6 pin female connector - I'm sure it was a 2 wire connector (green wires?) and then separate black and grey wires for the illumination.

All WBs both Series I and II had the long single row connector as Mick has described. If you have an indicator stalk from a VH/VK with the 2 rows of pins it won't fit, hopefully all you need to do is fit the correct stalk. There definitely isn't a separate harness that contains both wiper dwell and indicator stalk connectors.

Wiper switch has 6 terminals as per pic for a WB Caprice The problem I have is that there is nothing for the indicator stalk male connector to plug into.
The reason why I think the female multi connector is missing, is that it may be part of the missing loom from the dwell switch. Dwell switch with cut wires pictured, as is the female 6 pin connector on the main harness loom.

Would make sense to some degree as the indicator stalk contains the on/off switch and washer control.
Any help much appreciated.

This is the missing loom. Taken from a pic on the internet. It looks like the female connector for the indicator stalk is partly hidden from view, but the wiper dwell connection is clearly shown

I remember now - that loom in your 2nd photo does the wiper dwell and illumination for the gauges etc and plugs into the connector in the 1st photo that is closest to the middle of the white paper. The indicator stalk definitely doesn't come off this loom - count the number of wires on each and you'll see there isn't enough to do everything.

As for the missing female indicator stalk connector, that's a bit of a mystery - make sure nothing else has been plugged into it. I thought on the main loom it wasn't far from the indicator/hazard/horn assembly female connector which you have plugged in. If you can't work it out in a few days I'll pull the lower dash off mine and let you know.

Agree with your first statement Rhys.
I thought perhaps the indicator stalk loom might become seperated, and part of it may have connected to the wiper dwell switch loom....just a guess.

There is definitely nothing else that the traffic indicator stalk could possibly plug into that I can see. Any similar female strip multiconnectors are too far away, and the wire colours are completely different.

The hazard/horn & actual indicator lights etc are all spoken for and wired up correctly....it's only the high beam switch which is on the traffic indicator stalk & wiper on/off plus washer button that are not connected as they are on the multi connector male plug that does not have a female connector counterpart.

As you can see I pulled the complete loom out of the car today to make sure there wasn't a female connector hidden somewhere.

I'd be extremely grateful if you could take a look at your loom, but I realise it's a fair job....lots of wires under there, and they are not easily gotten to :-(

A pic would be excellent if that's at all possible.....a pic speaks a thousand words!!
Traffic Indicator Connector is the same as HZ Mick.

Thanks for all the input guys. Bruce

I've found the connector!
It was nowhere near the steering column, and the wire colours were so faded that they didn't really resemble the colours they were supposed to be.
The only way I found it, was by tracing the dark blue wire from the windscreen washer motor right back to its source....by unwrapping miles of electical loom tape. I expect to find bits of electrical tape at the bottom of my bed tomorrow.
The trouble with a Caprice loom is that there are so many similar connectors going off the main loom to power windows, central locking, power aerial, heater & air cond etc that with the faded colours it is easy to mistake blue for green, grey for brown etc, etc.
Hope I haven't put anyone out......especially Rhys.

Good news Bruce! I know what you mean with the similar connectors and complexity of the loom as I fitted a complete series II Caprice wiring loom into a Deville several years ago - it wasn't as easy as I first anticipated. Definitely not a job that you rush.
