Thinking of buying these repro front & rear bumpers. Heaps cheaper then the recoed originals. Has any fastlaners had any experience with the repro bars? Worried about fit & finish & quality of the pressings.

I notice there's a few people selling the repro rear bar already, but at $460.00. $395.00 sounds better to me. Could you give a estimate when you will have the rear bars in?

Hi Les and J.W.

Any platers who still have these do exchange for around $300-$400 each.

A guy I knew who had a plating shop up here passed away last year. He was a hot rodder. Good bloke and the plating was first class. He did me a "favour" selling me a F&R for $400 each without exchange.

His family are winding things up and still have a few bars left for HK/T/G and XW/Y. They won't budge under $500 no exchange.

I guess if you look at paying a bloke a few hours wages for working on each bar add materials and cost of operating the business, a $400 to $500 pricepoint can be understood.

If the tooling for these bars is accurate and the plating is of a good standard they should be good value. Good luck with the bars Les.

In the meantime I think it is great to see more activity with creating in good reproduction bits. The more the merrier.

If we observe the trend in the USA with more and more repro stuff coming to market which helps keep our hobby alive. The manufacturers make a profit and then re invest some of it in improving the quality and range of parts.

I hope this trend grows in Australia.

Cheers
Nick.

The good thing about the Rares/GM-H relationship is that as time goes on more stuff may become available with

I use a bumper exchange place locally. I supply them with as many HKTG bars as I can. I have a small mountain of themI get a good trade price and I sell them for $450 inc GST. I've sold heaps of them. I've never understood why they tooled up to reproduce something as common as bumper bars that were the same on every HKTG model. I supply the place bars in all sorts of varying condition and they come back excellent. Good value for the price. Obviously the picky, fussy people will find fault with them and have to pay $800+ from the chromers.

You are lucky to have a good supply of bumper bars we do not so if we are going to sell bumper bars we have to have new repro ones.
We stopped doing change over some years ago as we had too many problems with the freight as well as the condition of the change over bars, and when they are repaired no two are the same these repro ones are triple plated and are equal to what would have been supplied by GMH a good commercial finish.

Not that easy to find decent bars these days so good on rares for investing in the tooling. I would much rather pay $395 for a new one then spend more repairing & re-chroming an old one.

The rear bars were tested today and rejected , I am not sure if the other sellers tested theirs but as far as we are concerned the do not fit properly and will be sent back to the manufacturer

RSP in Brisbane were doing changeover bars second half of last year - a mate got front and rear ones. I contacted them about taking some of mine (6 front / 2 rear) as part payment for changeover bars and they stated they already had heaps and weren't interested.
