I am currently in the process of removing my head due to gasket and possible cracked head, but am stuck on the timing chain tensioner removal.
I have bought a long 3mm hex key and using a bic pen case as a sleeve to adjust and remove it.
I can turn the key clockwise once I have pushed in the makeshift sleeve, however, it just keeps turning and never reaches a locked full position. I have made probably a couple of hundred turns.
Anyway thinking that that must be normal, I proceeded to remove the outer retainer. Upon removing it, the compressed tensioner did not come with it as indicated in the Max Ellery Manual.
Can anyone shed any light as to what is likely happening and what I need to do?
Thanks

Update and close to topic
I dont know why it just kept spinning but it seems that after the outer retainer has been removed, the tensioner assembly can be hooked out with some stiff wire which I have now done.
To be put back obviously it will need to be fully compressed before being reinsterted.
