The steering rack on my LX is a reco unit, about 16 months old now.

When turning the wheel, it makes a loud squeek noise the whole or most of the travel of the turn. While driving and also dry steering.
The steering itself while driving is very stiff. I have a mate with an LX also and his steering is a lot smoother and easier to turn.

Normally the steering wheel will return back to centre after you've turned a corner or naturally want to return the that spot, but on my car it does it very slowly, I have to assist it after going around a corner to get it back to centre.

any ideas how to fix this?

My front tyres are only 195 60 R14, not overly wide

cheers
