Steve Jackson is well known in the Sydney Holden scene. He has (had ?) a huge collection of one owner, low mileage FB/EKs.

He ran a guitar store on Parramatta Rd for many years, but went bankrupt last year. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Many of his cars have appeared at auction houses in recent times, but not his gold EK 'Premier'.

His gold car was not a 'prototype' as such. It was the, then current Managing Director's car, which began life as a show car in the early EK days. It was quite special in many ways & featured many items which became standard on the upcoming EJ Premier. It had metallic paint inside & out, white steering wheel & Warmaride heater, Hydra-matic, power steering, w/washers & unique interior trim including fold-down armrests, carpet & cloth seats, EJ Premier trim rings etc. etc. Steve even tracked down the original rego papers which showed the number plates as GMH-000.

Although it didn't wear them originally, EJ/EH Premier badges were fitted to the car in more recent years, but these had been removed by the time that Steve received the car.

Steve often called his car a 'prototype' which it wasn't. To me it was a concept or pilot build. A prototype is built for testing purposes, say for a new suspension or driveline, or even an entire new model.

Most of these cars that have been tagged as 'prototypes' are not, many are show specials or just pilot builds or early builds built for long lead photo shoots (brochures or magazine articles).

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
