Currently installing a VN V6 series 1 into my HK van. I'm not running power steer and I want to remove the power steering pump. I'm well aware you can purchase an idler from v6conversions ($150) or CRS ($240?)....Do I have any other options ? According to 50years of Holden (Dr Terry), there was a manual steering option for the VN. So did this option delete the power steering pump and run an idler pulley or did they use a shorter drive belt ? Can I adapt an idler of some description from a different make/model of vehicle ? Building this car on a major budget and $150 could be well spent somewhere else!

What DrTerry has mentioned is correct.
Only series 1 VN V6s, and only base models issued to fle

I too tryed this, but it was still very tight when spun by hand. Sure it would work but is adding load to your drive. Not like an idler which just runs on when spun by hand. That is why I thought there may be another way to get around it. If I cant find o
