does anyone know whether:
a) is the 8cyl tunnel bigger than the 6 cyl?
b) what the dimensions of the th400 are?
c) what the dimensions of the standard gen III box are?

Hi daniel.
The HZ tunnels are all the same 6/V8/Auto/Manual, no problems.
A TH 400 fits an HZ easily & the 4L60E from a Gen 3 is slightly less fat & will also fit the HZ tunnel.
You are going through an expensive learning curve w
