Hey guys and gals, sometimes if its locked in second and i floor it from say, 3 grand it will ping a little and excess fuel will come out (sometimes biggish cloud) then get back on with it. Or even when i take off from the lights hard, at the 3 grand mark i get the black excess fuel cloud.
Could this be cecause i put elctronic ignition in a 308, but didnt touch the plugs, does this mean i should change them to 1.5mm? Is it a spark problem, or jets in the carby?
Or could this be from me burning out the valves by running BP Ultimate in standard heads, i know this may seem stupid to most people here, but its cheaper to replace the valve seats than to put additives in. The lead replacement fuel makes the engine run like CRAP, even with the electronic ignition.

Have the same problem. Red 308 standard points ignition 600 holley. First gear seems to rev higher with out it pinging but in second gear I used to hit 4000 revs and now 3500 and pings like hell and blows black smoke out the back. I am running LRP petr
