Hey Guys,
I am changing the shocks on the front of a VN. I have removed the struts but I cant work out how to lock the shock absorber in position in order to remove the gland nut. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Luke.

I don't quite understand your question.

Compress spring with spring compressors and use a air operated rattle gun (impact gun) TO UNDO NUT otherwise slip a set of vice or multi grips through spring pull down shock boot and grip shaft the rattl egun is the easiest idea though

Thanks for the replies though I did end up getting them done before I managed to read your suggestions. I ended up using vice grips and swearing and carrying on until I finally got it. Struts are now back in the car and feel a lot better.
Cheers.
