Ill actually write something this time. I have almost finished a VK 308 to VN injection setup and was recently told the i may have to change the cam? Someone please tell me you dont have to!!! I have the heads back on and everything! But if i do, why?? It already has a mild gas cam in it so will i be ok? any info appreciated, cheers

I dont quite understand sorry. I dont know what you mean by port spacings. Sorry to sound dumb but i need to know. Will the car still run??

Sorry but the engine is a 304 block, built in Nov 85. Up until march 85 they were 308's. Its a black engine.

Unless your motor was originally a VN on, you will have to change the cam.
I can't remember the actual order of the valves but it is something like: Carby motor - inlet, exhaust, exhaust, inlet, etc. Injected motor - inlet, exhaust, inlet, exhaust,

G'dday again,
On the old 308's and variants the valve order from 1-3-5-7 & 2-4-6-8 is I-E-I-E-E-I-E-I AND I-E-I-E-E-I-E-I whereas the new VN and on motors have for 1-3-5-7 & 2-4-6-8 the following: E-I-E-I-E-I-E-I & I-E-I-E-I-E-I-E which

Ok the short and easy answer is you HAVE to change the cam. The engine will not run with the old cam.

Thanks heaps to everyone for all you help. Its set me on the right track. I have already got all the other stuff, full VN setup. I have to source some headers from pacemaker who make them especially for the VN to Vk conversion. cost about $450 which is go
