Hello all, How much stuffing around with wiring etc does it take to install a Calais/Statesman instrument Cluster into an Executive?

I know that the level 2 cluster from an S/SS/Berlina plugs straight in but what about the level 3 cluster?

Can it be done without having a trip computer?

Thanks, Jim...

Hi Jim.

Well yes & no.

Some cars, those with power-pack wiring (windows/locks/mirrors & aerial), already have the extra plug in the harness. If the extra plug is not in the harness, it is a lot of stuffing around.

By the time you buy the dash, get the harness , switchesand the wiring diagram, the conversion will cost you a fortune. Like DR Terry said, its more than a days work as you will have to also patch the Calais harness into yours as you cant put the harness

Thanks for that. They often come up on eBay without the trip computer is the reason why I asked. It sounds like I should steer clear of them though.

I a not an experienced auto elec but I can tell you that the job can be done in a few hours.
1. Cut out for trip computer controls-15mins
2. remove trim and old cluster- 10 mins
3. Add level 3 wiring patch to inst harness.-30 mins
4. fit level 3 clust
