Hello, There was a mob in Melbourne manufacturing a thermostat housing that sat in the lower radiator hose. they claimed it gave cylinders more even temp, reduced water pump cavitation etc . they were called Ecotrans. the product was Ecotherm. Has anybody heard of them or have their details? The ones I have dont work anymore and all net searches fail to reveal any info. Cheers Ed

John Bennett from Ecotrans who developed the Ecotherm can be located at Innovative Technologies Pty Ltd, 36 Lillee Cres, Tullamarine. Tel 03 9338 1988. Yes, he is the clever engineer who modifies truck and bus diesel engines to run on LPG. And what a

It depends on whether they are 2 or 4 stroke diesels I suppose. Yo'd have to lower the compression by about 50% for starters. Having said that, they have buses in Perth running on Natural Gas (not LPG), but they were designed to run on gas from the beg Edited by user Tuesday, 27 September 2005 7:44:34 AM(UTC)

I have an article on the ecotherm system somewhere. Will have to rummage through my back copies and find it. BTW, further to the post on other uses for LPG, I connected up the gas tank from one of our cars to the barbie yesterday and it works great. Edited by user Tuesday, 27 September 2005 4:07:36 PM(UTC)

I have an article on Ecotherm as well as the diesel conversions by John Bennet. They are both from magazines in 1999. If anybody wants a copy, I can scan and e-mail them to you. By the way, the Bell Street Bus company here in Melbourne have been runn

Hi Bruce,
Yeah mate, I ***REALLY*** didn't want to come back to the mainland on Sunday night....
It was a nice-ish day in Melbourne yesterday (and today) but I had to work...bugger!
Hi Andrew,
Don't necessarily scan that gas stuff just for me,

Dave,
Will do it when I get a chance. Probably tomorrow and will e-mail it to you. It's 3 pages so I will reduce the resolution a bit to make it smaller to download.
cheers...Andrew

Diesels conveted to LPG?? thats a tough ask. considering LPG is way to volatile to use in a diesel engine (due to ignition being from compression, not spark) it would take a smart mind to find a way to do it effectively. if he has done it, then more m

Hi fatboy.
More than half the Government buses in Sydney have their Diesels running on CNG (compressed natural gas), They work well & are reliable.

Well reading Gas Research's web site says that they supplement the expensive diesel with cheaper LPG/CNG so you use less diesel & the vehicle develops more power. Maybe the councils don't want to admit that they still have to burn "dirty diesel" so they j |

The Bell St Bus Co buses run on natural gas. National Bus Co (Melb)had one of John Bennett's diesel to LPG conversions engines in it - the most reliable and economical bus in their fleet. There have been a few articles on John in BRW. LPG is easily ava
