Is it necessary to cut the petrol tank in half to fit the gas cylinder under the floor of XD---XF Falcon station wagons?
If yes,what total fuel capacity do you end up with?
Has anyone had any experience with this?

No it's not your only option. You can buy an APA tank for your wagon that looks like 3 scooba tanks it sits on top of your existing petrol tank & leaves just enough room for your jack to stow.
