Got a problem with my VS Calais, when you turn off the key the air con / heater blower starts up at full speed and stays on. This happens with the ign off and the key removed etc.

I've diagnosed it as best I can with a wiring diagram from the trusty Gregorys manual. The blower fan will only stop if you remove the fuse, which is in the positive feed the blower motor. On the negative side of the blower motor is the Climate Control Module, the Relay, and also a unit called the Heater Fan Switch. With the fuse in, removing the the Climate Control Module and / or the Relay has no effect and the blower keeps running.

I'm fairly sure the faulty part is what the Gregorys calls the Heater Fan Switch module, which connects between the Climate Control unit and the blower motor. It must have a permanent short to ground or something which would make the blower run all the time.

For the life of me I cant find this thing, anyone know where Heater Fan Switch module is located on Commodores with climate control, and what it looks like? I've searched under the dash both sides, and in the central console area under the dash, and cant find it?

Thanks for any help!

It will be that - you can access it by removing the wiper arms, and then the plastic cover at the base of the windscreen.
Once it's off you'll see a dome-shaped cover in the middle - remove the 2 screws & you can access the fan control module - which is

Thanks guys, that was the problem. Cost me $140 for a new fan control module, and the climate control now works better than it ever did. Thanks again, and thanks to Greg at Classic Oz Wreck for putting me on to these forums.
