hey all, just found out my 179 has a blown head gasket and want to know if anyone has any prefered brands. Last one was fom repco, lasted a year and was silver on one side and gasket material the other. I have found for the inlet gasket that the metal ones were crap and the brownish material ones work best . Any ideas. Cheers

can't comment on head gaskets, but i agree the orangey-brown manifold gasket is much better than the metal one.

Monotorque (I think that's how you spell it) for the head gasket, fibre ones for the manifolds (especially if you have extractors and/or an aftermarket inlet manifold). Cheers...Dave Edited by user Wednesday, 18 May 2005 10:37:55 AM(UTC)

I agree monotorque for the head but with the manifold the only fibre ones available in NSW are green and i've had nothing but bad luck with them we need the old asbestos ones back

Funny how different people have differing opinions on things. I personally swear by the original Holden metal manifold gaskets. I wonder if you can still get them from a Holden dealer though.
All I have ever done is coated every surface with a smear |
