just a thought !
How many times have you heard poeple say "I`m buying a new car as it will be cheaper to run". but is it cheaper to own !
My dad has a 99 VT with 180,000klms the car is kept as new cond and he owns the car outright.
He said the other day maybe he should get a new smaller car ($18,000 buzz box)as it would be cheaper on fuel , I said to him if you trade in the VT you might get around $7-8000 leaving at least a $10,000 debt which would need to be paid off + higher innsurance .
Keeping his VT makes more sense considering his yearly milage is about 10-15000 klms , I said if it gets to much get LPG installed which is a lot cheaper than buying a new car.
what do other people think ?

Absolutely right Cloudy. People forget about the including the payments when considering a new(er) car.

A $10,000 debt over 5 years works out to be $2,000 a year (plus interest of, say $200 a year on average) which is almost $200 a month or about $45 a

I own 2 V8's a sandman (which I've had for 20 years and will never sell) and a VS SIII Stato. I concider that because I'm very handy with a spanner and do all the servicing myself that the extra fuel they use is the trade off by keeping my maintance down.

If I want a new car. My Company can pay for it. I am not that desperate yet. Nor will I buy one out of my pocket, not with the economy the way it is.

I have a daily driver HQ that probably owes me around $5k. Plus many hours of work as a labour of love
