I have a 71 Pemier with a 4 on the floor manual transmission (not factory fitted). When I go through to 3rd gear there is a bit of noise from the gear box. I hope it is only lacking oil, so I want to drain and change the oil which I am sure has not been done for many years.

Can anyone assist me in locating a drain point for the gear box? I can find no obviouse drain point.

Any assistance greatly appreciated. Cheers.

From memory, the manuals say to crack one of the seals on the box (ie - loosen the bolts where it bolts to the bell housing), and just let it trickle out. Fairly sure that's right...

Hi orangesink911 unless you have broken a gear or bearing in the box there is no need to change the oil just fill it and dont undo any part of the box as where you have broken the seal it will leak and you will have to replace the gasket. You can get gear

Great thanks for the advice. I just put 650 mil of gear box oil in. Looking forward to testing operation later today.
