I have a red 4.2 in my HJ ute. The problem is the heater doesn't seem to get hot enough. I have heard that if the heater hoses are swapped over, this can happen. Not sure if that's possible. Can anyone help me as to how to route the hoses the right way. The heater core is only 12 months old and clean. The cooling system is also fairly new and clean.

try checking your thermostat? if it's rusted open or if you don't have one installed drop one in, or try a higher temp unit, or your water will run through the engine too fast for it to heat up... especially in a 'fairly new and clean' cooling system

John, Byron,
Thanks for the input. When you say the hot water switch, do you mean the heater tap. If so, yes, the vacuum type and it's working correctly. Forgot to mention it's got A/C, gas (T pieces in the heater hoses) and a WB inlet manifold, so

Hi Andrew,

If it is any help, I have diagrams from the parts manual for HX pre and post pollution heater hoses set ups.

Let me know if they will help and I'll send them through.

Cheers...Dave

BluHJ,

I have been freezin a bit the past few nights myself, and had a look at my heater. So I thought I'd use the NSW Govt approved hose to reverse flush the heater radiator. First I got a trickle then a rush of rusty/muddy water. I force fed both pip
