Just what to know if any ones has or knows how much and whats involved with changing over my T400 behind my 308 to an early T700.

You'll need some linkage on the carby to operate the TV cable to the transmission. If that's not setup correctly it will ruin the trans, but I think there are aftermarket linkage kits available. Other than that, it should be fairly straightforward I recko

You will also need a torque converter lock up device. I believe that you can just attach a switch but american Auto's in Sydney were advertising a kit for around $200.

The tailshaft is a different length, and the yoke is also different. The rear mount needs some mods also, plus the fluid lines may need some massaging/adaption. The TH700 is notoriously less 'reliable' than the TH400 though. By reliable I mean: how much H |

It will depend on what car it is going into. I looked at going from Tri to TH700 in the HQ. Can be done at a cost. Around $4000 last I heard. Reco box, new shafts, maybe interior trim, and NO 1st gear. Oh yeah plus diff ratios and getting the

If you have a 3.08 diff in it now the speedo will be ok as this is the default diff ratio for the commodores. Only thing to whatch out for is if you go into the VP-VR's for the box, they require the computer to make them shift. Best bet is to get the VN V

VR's went electronic for the auto box the VP's were still hydraulically controlled but they were supposed to be stronger than the VN box. |

strange, bloke I worked with pulled his blown V6 out of the VP and put the tubo VL straight 6 in still using the standard VP T700, he had to get his computer back from the V6 so he could get the g/box to shift? will check with him to see what the go was w

sorry, yeh the 4L60-E came out in the VR's (elect shift) but I will still check about the VP from above, trying to remember what it was.....
