Hi there all, Was reading the Sept 05 issue of Street Machine in the workshop section that was discussing changes to a pre RTS setup.
It was suggested that using (the example a LX Torana) negative camber with positive caster with new springs, shocks and sway bar combined with UC balljoints and upper arms. With the UC ball joints and upper arms its offset aids in gaining more caster.
I am about to go down the road of replacing alot of the front end of the HQ and was interested to know if people had done this with HQs. Can you use HZ (RTS) upper arms and ball joints with the HQ setup?
Or is it better just to replace such things with standard HQ items?
Thanks
Brian

Brian,
My cars handle and control just fine as bog standard Q's. I just made sure that the guys at Pedders, KNEW what a HQ was before they started. One guy did mine, and it rocks. I never had the need to redo to RTS specs although RTS is better than 73

as you say RTS really is much better than non-RTS, if this question was in KB's(?) workshop and from the very specific parts advice, i'd say the original angle may have been for track or similar improved performance type driving. By all means if you can g

HQ to HZ arms are the same basic items. The RTS was achieved in the mounts, unlike the A9X and UC Torana where it was done in the top control arm (relative to pre RTS). |

Basically the parts are the same throughout the series...it's just the mounting & location that is different. Interesting to read Johns list of changes for RTS. No(12) especially... "redesigned body mounting system" AFAIK, all they did was to delete th |

All of that is a long winded way of saying:
Castor and Camber appropriate to better handling. Sway bars. Radial tyres.
The simplest and safest way to fit the important part RTS to a pre RTS vehicle is to change the front rails (or the crossmember |
