G'day All,
Can anyone tell me what year a 253 engine with the prefix QR would be from? I saw one for sale on Ebay and wanted to know if I could put it in the tonner. Cheers. Russ.

IIRC, it is an HQ - HZ 253. We sort of need the actual number to give you an idea of the year.

QR series engines run from HQ thru HZ.
You can check the engine casting date and number above the timing case beneath the L/H head. This is read by day / month / year.
Eg: 23 (day) D (APR) 5 (1975).
