The reverse switch is incorporated in the inhibitor switch on the C4 selector shaft. Thats what is on my XD V8.

Yep That's right from memory I think that I had an XA V8 with a C4 & it was on the side of the box where the selector rod entered the box so yours could be there.

Earlier Falcons (XR-XY) with the C4 had it on the shifter itself it's on the base of the

Both of the above are spot on. I have one right beside me sitting on my desk. Aftermarket shifters run them on the shift itself.
