Just thinking about giving the ute a bit more tow and was wondering if anyone has put a turbo on the 3.3 fuel injected six out of the VK.
Do you have to change the computer(I dont think mine is programmable) or can you get away with the standard one? Do you use the same injectors or get bigger ones like on the VL models?
I dont want a 10 sec street car just a ute with a bit better fuel economy and power for the highway.
Any help appreciated |

Chris, it can be done but you will need another ECU, and all of that will cost you lots. Plus the VK EFI has 8.8:1 compression ratio, so to use the turbo's boost effectively this needs to be lowered. You would be much better off slotting in an injected 5L |

It's probably different for petrol engines but a mate just fitted a turbo on to his 4cyl deisel a few weeks ago and reckons he is getting better fuel economy and pull up the hills than what he did without the turbo. Thats kind of where I thought it might |

I am currently preparing to put an efi 202 with a turbo into a hj 1 tonner. I'll only get time to do it late January but the motor is pretty well stripped down now so next year I could probably offer heaps of info but for now I don't have the good or bad Edited by user Thursday, 20 October 2005 7:12:25 AM(UTC)
