You need every single part that a V8 HT came out with. Brakes, master cylinder, diff, suspension, front end, engine mounts, radiator, gearbos, crossmember. Just think of every component affected by the extra weight and power.

Hi Peter, got a question for you- if the hk,t,g came from factory with a chev, why so much cost associated to get the Vic boys to approve the conversion? Its not like its a major modification as far as im aware. so long as ,like you said, to change every |

Not much really. Just the following:
350 Chev complete with appropriate sump; Whatever gearbox you choose; Radiator; Gearbox crossmember (factory one will fit most boxes on a HT/HG as they are adjustable); Tailshaft (again factory V8 one may do |

MrHQGtS in Lismore has a running 327 chev (heads need reco) and t400/b&m shifter for $1000 (will separate) which imho is a pretty good price...have a look here http://oldholden.com/?q=node/22301

which reminds me of another Q i have...what if i fit a 350ci into my HK which only had a 327ci option? will it need engineering?

Not if you tell them it's a 327! In NSW you can fit a 15% larger engine with no real hassles, but the same thing would apply as it does to the HJ. You only need to show that the HK is the same thing as a HT-HG, and the 350 was standard in them. The only t |

anyone know of the qld requirements for fitting a 400sbc into a hk? just curious at this stage-originally a 307,have original running gear{cept for box}and 6pak at moment,and have hg discs.wondering if the 15%increase in size relates to qld as well as nsw |

A 400 SBC crank can go into a 350 (is known as a 383). I would be wary of putting the pistons in, as the 400 block and heads have different cooling passages and steam relief holes due to the closeness of the cylinders.

You can put a 400 crank into a 307, 327 or 350 block but you need to grind the mains down as the 400 has larger mains. With a STD 4" bore this gives you 377 cubes. You can use 400 rods and 377 stroker pistons (basically 400 pistons that are 0.125" undersi |

Some 307 engines will easily bore to 4 inch ie 0.125" oversize. Lot's of these were made into 327 (4 inch bore with 307 crank) or 350 (4 inch bore with 305 or 350 crank) engines. You can even make a 377 with the 400 stroke and 4 inch bore. I've even seen |
