There have ben several discussions on this web site re Monaro Nationals judging, yet no other nationals for some reason!!!!

Like the last discussion the whole judging system used was not known of or understood. It has been a development, with each club hosting being able to add or subtract as they wish.

If people feel so strongly about it, here is a novel idea, join a Monaro club and voice your opinion, send it through your club to the Queensland club as they are the next host. (I know a lot of people think clubs are for loosers, but if you are one of them then why are you interested in anything they organise?)

The Queensland deligation is still finalising information so still time to get it in, otherwise wait until 2012.

Classes of cars etc is always a difficult thing, many shows have limited catagories, my view is the more the better, this allows a carwith just a few mods to be just as rewarded as the guy that has a full on million dollar show car, as each has its place in the automotive world.

An off topic thing, the Champion Monaro, under current Monaro Nationals rules, would be classified as modified, not a survivor, restored or concours car. But as Ben said a nice car all the same, I did see it at Yepoon but missed out on seeing it here in Brisbane.

Looking forward to seing everyone at the next event, with all details to be released in hte next few months.

No matter how many or what catagories you have for judging you will never please everyone , I know . I had a beautiful stock FC Holden sedan a few years ago which had the original upholstry as it had come out of the factory and original 40 year old chrome all of which was in top condition and I won Top Stock at the Holden Show . Next year I got beaten by a car which had been reupholstered in similar material and had all of the chrome replated .I was so pissed off because it wasnt stock until I was reminded that my car had been repainted . How far do you go ?I got such a buz out of the feeling that much of my car had survived for 40 years at the time but came to accept the fact that very few classic cars have survived untouched from when they left the showroom floor .

PLEASE DON"T SUCK THE YELLOW SNOW
CHANGE IS INEVITABLE , EXCEPT FROM VENDING MACHINES

Im with Frank, make him judge. Think about it could he do a worst job? Would his judging annoy more people than are already annoyed? At least if someone was annoyed they could get some comfort out of the fact that the judge is a known tool not someone passing themselves off as the real thing when they are a tool!

At the Cleveland Autospectacular just gone, the word was that an all out effort is being put in by the organisers to ensure that everyone will be happy with the judging at the next Monaro Nationals. Should be an excellent event from what was told to me.

The modified classes should be unchanged, but with the work that Ben is putting into the "orignal" classes shoud make them the best they have been.

As an HQ expert I am sure that you expertise could also be utilised in the perfection of the judging system. I think Ben was at the Cleveland spectacular and hope that you managed to catch him to discuss the event.

In due time the Monaro club shall release all the information on how these things shall be implimented. I hope Ben impliments all the items that he and I have been discussing.

To save everyone the trouble, any one who wants their car judged in any show, just fax the invoices for work done to the vehicle to the show committee or Ch#c He$ry.The trophy will be presented to the most money spend. Please leave the Nationals for the rest of us mear mortals.

its not the cars, or the nationals, or the event, it the people that ruin it, and then they bag the judges as well, then poor warren cops it from certain donuts that plague our hobby when all he is doing is using his own personal time to spread his knowledge and do what he has been asked to do, and thats judge to the best of his ability, so thats why a breakaway group was formed.
these are the same people that bag judges and other people, but then they are the first to call and ask the same people for advice and info about their cars

Oh dear poor wazza!!! I dont doubt that he has more knowledge than most, and no doubt to do that book with Mr Ben Stewart he was/is an enthusiast with an extensive collection of Holden brochures, bulletins, service updates and other paper work. But when you step into the arena and hang your shingle out as a judge someone is going to be unhappy.
Now I dont know how many Monaros wazza has built or owned but none that Ive heard of. Im picking that hes not a panel beater, painter, trimmer etc and has no real hands on experience. This might explain how a 327 that won the Loxton nationals had a restamped engine. Well when you miss things like that how good are you? and no wonder people get annoyed. So when he judges things like this and misses the numbers that he should be up to speed with how can he judge panel and paint? Imagine a Corvette at Bloomington winning gold with a restamp!
Only way to do it is to make it like the original at Wangaratta and have entrants choice. Then people can only blame themselves not poor wazza or some other tool.
Maybe if you want people to judge that know what they are on about get Peter Tomassini to do panel and paint, Reg to do the trim, James at MMP to do the engine bay/driveline and MR B. Stewart for the tags/numbers and overseer to the others.
No bugger it just go with wazza and we wreck 81837s only and throw in some free gelati. Wazza can do the barbie.

id definitely get reg for the trim, as chippa is now a bit lame due to his health, the only thing is that reg is another one that no longer has a phone in his work area, pete and tom, of the famed ch31 programme gasolene, well, i dunno, but that brite blue metallic 327 gts sans rear 1/4s is still there, TV shows and coffees with the boys are more important, james of HRP or MMP well the latter won out, he just cant get enough of himself...so having said that me and wazza, we still rule!!!!
ill do the calamari on the barbie, wazza can run the gelati van and everyone will be happy, and all will be bute, especially with a V8 HT GTS UTE.hahaha

I would prefer my real name of Warren if you do not mind.

But you have found me out agian, just a numbers person with no real car experience, yes I am not employed in the automotive industry, never have been and probably never will. And that is why many over the years have told me I am not qualified to write about Monaros, as there are many others with heaps more experince than me. (you should have been around in 1993 when some in the Monaro community were quite blunt about me writing a book on Monaros, they did not know who I was and were going to write a much better book, waiting, waiting, waiting)

Interesting comments on the judgeing though, as original judging is what I was involved in and an engine number problem is just one point, the same as the wrong radiator etc. Please see notes on how judging system works. The other thing is paint and panel has nothing to do with the stock judging system.

Finally I did not judge any cars in stock class at Loxton, I oversaw the whole thing, just doing a fewcars when there was a dispute/close call. Same at Bathurst and Wangarratta.

Ben Stewart is putting some good stuff together for the next nationals, please see him to volunteer as a judge, so that I do not have to do it. Happy to man the BBQ on the day, do you want fris with that?

Well Warren thats about as good as you can put it, and fries will be grrreat.
As for we wreck 81837s only, good to see youve reverted back to Warren rather than wazza. You suck, hanging onto warrens shirt tails...but if you are doing the gelati at the next nationals I will have one providing you dont wipe your willie on it.
As for the French fag I dont think Warren really wants you in his corner, get back to the dunnies.
