When I spoke to him he was good and friendly, and was just realising that what he bought was not what it was advertised as. He paid nearlly $8,000 for it off Ebay, so he got shafted. He initially tried to sell it as it wasn't as good as what he was lead t

Dr Terry,

I was interested to hear your comment on the HZ RTS chassis being fitted to most HXs Sandmans built after June 1976. I had not heard of this. My Sandman Utility is an 8/76 XX7. Do you suspect it has the HZ RTS chassis and what differences are

Hi Fletcher.

Sorry, but that 's a typo on my part, it should have read June '77. In other words, the last 5 to 6 months of HX production had the RTS front suspension geometry, but not the HZ's heavier rate springs & shocks & also no rear stabiliser bar
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

I have a late HX 1-tonner chassis at home that has the RTS mounting points on it. I think it's a 7/77. It's actually for sale if anyone needs one - rolling, not cracked, 3.55 diff, tank, nice suspension all ready to go. I also recently scrapped a HJ GTS w
