I have a 5 speed gearbox which I won't be using. I was told it is a toyota box but don't know what model it is from.
The main case is cast iron with the following P/N 33111-20091 on it. The number 22 is below the first number. The rear housing is aluminium and has P/N 33141-20090 on it with 8K13A below it as well.
Any clues?

The fact it has cast iron pretty much narrows it down to a W50, in which case it would look like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181497391014
Note the cast iron section has a "ramp" up to the 2 top bolts.
The shifter position will determine what it came out of (it was used behind the R-series 4 cyl motors - 18R, 20R, 22R etc and from models as wide as celica to hilux).

Thanks Commodorenut. I found an ad on ebay for a 5 speed and it showed the P/N's on the side the same as mine. The ad said it was a Celica Box, W50. It has the ramp you mentioned.
Anyone want a used 5 Speed. Make an offer? Box only, no bellhousing. Pick up in Blackbutt Qld.

If you were closer to me i'd grab it but not worth the effort from that distance. I think I have a bellhousing for it, plus another box and 2 x broken ones. Bellhousing is for 253 or manual pattern 308 from HT through to mid HZ (rat-trap clutch mech). From memory there might be a flywheel, flex plate and clutch plate as well.

I've got a 4 speed box that has a hadfield bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, tail shaft and speedo cable that was behind a 186 that was in my van. I was told it was a Toyota dyna box. Is the bell housing the same for the 5 speed?

If it's a W40 box, then yes, it simply will bolt up where a W50 goes - everything aligns too - front bolt pattern is the same, speedo cable, overall length, input & output splines etc - all the same.

When a mate smashed the teeth off the layshaft in a W50 I had in a VH, I replaced it with a W40 for a short time to get it going again.

W40s were in the 1970s 18R/20R powered Corona, and early Hilux models - and the shifter position from a Hilux is perfect for where an Aussue 4-speed shifter behind a red/blue/black 6 comes through the floor (the celica "kicked back" shifter housing is too far back to fit a factory shifter hole without cutting, or changing the shifter housing & heel).

Gear ratios between Corona & Hilux differed - 1st was super-low in the Hilux version. I can't imagine how low a Dyna would have been, unless it had a very short diff and used car ratios in the box. It was a Dyna clutch plate that fitted the blue 6 flywheel & pressure plate (same size as a red 253).

Just did a quick google search to see if I could find what box a Dyna had, and found this Wiki:

It appears the W50 was the passenger car box, and the W52 was the low-1st gear version of the same box, used in the Hilux in AU (info from that page).
That would explain how I got a Hilux "W50" replacement with the shorter 1st gear in it.

I was thinking about the Dyna though, and they'd be a different box because the shifter would have to be remote. Looking at the list of vehicles that the W40/50 were used im, and there's no Dynas in there. I don't know enough about them to know what box went in them, and diesel would likely be different to the petrol ones of the 70s.

Like GMH did with the Aussie 4 speeds, Trimatic, Powerglide, TH350 etc, many Toyota boxes shared common dimensions/fittings across the range to minimise the overall unique parts count for their drivelines - things such as input & output shaft sizes & splines, speedo drives, and even mounts.

The 4 speed in the Hilux was mostly column shift too. Only the SR5 got floor shift and don’t think too many got sold. I have a 77 Hilux we bought new. It’s 4 on the tree.

Dynas were far bigger boxes, bigger than 'cruiser boxes. They were by the early 80's anyway. I had an '83 Daihatsu Delta and an '83 Dyna dual cab, same running gear. Box was essentially the same fitment to the bellhousing as a BJ40 'cruiser. There were mobs fitting 5spd Dyna to 4spd Landcruiser but I cannot imagine one behind a 186 in a Holden. In a Dyna yes.

Thank you all for your replies. If anyone lives in Qld I maybe able to drop it off somewhere as I drive trucks. Based in Caboolture and travel around mostly central highlands, out as far as Longreach, occasionally Winton. I'm off to Roma, Blackall and Longreach today delivering polypipe, stormwater pipe etc.

After Byron's comment on the size of the dyna box I had to dig the box out.
It's nowhere near the size of a cruiser box so maybe it's just an old 4 speed.
Think i'm getting the hang of the photo stuff but I find I need to take a much larger photo of the area around the object in question and then snip it down to half the size to appease the forums 1045kj max

That is a “Celica” 4spd. What is called W40 higher up in this thread.

Being a "Celica" box with the "kicked back" shifter explains why I had to replace the entire front floor pan. the original one was butchered to fit the shifter.
Anyone want a cheap 4 speed that'll fit with "minimal" fuss.
I've at least got the cross member and bell housing that'll fit something better.
