The image in that rarespares link (part no. LRS1016) only shows the plastic lens and gasket. Dont see anything else?

The housing (which has the socket for the globe) is a seperate part. I like your idea though, would need a bit of fabrication, etc. I guess.

ok I thought that aluminium thing around was the housing. Can't find the housings anywhere.

I was thinking insted to go with those

You already own a set of tail-lights, why not just connect the reverse lights up. If they are there they need to work for roadworthy. Either that or just fit some aftermarket red & amber assemblies & wire them as per original. I though the whole idea was just to get a roadworthy, why bother with cheap looking billet crap.

There are plenty of LED assemblies on the Australian market designed for trucks & trailers & they also surface mount, which make for much easier fitting.

This is one place where LED lights are great.

yeah sure i need a roadworthy, but i also want proper tail lights, and the 10 dollars ones that are on now just look terrible.
So I'll most likely get some original HQ sedan ones and mount them directly under the tray.
