I have an XB Fairmont GS coupe with a column auto & bucket seats. Can anyone tell me what (if anything) would have originally been between the 2 buckets instead of a console. I would also like to know if factory air on these cars would have been an under dash unit or whether it would have used the existing vents.

Hi Anthony I once saw an XB that had an armrest between the buckets that lifted up to become a sixth seat. I dont know if this was a factory fitment but it did match the upholstery in the rest of the car.

Nope just a console. The factory aircon was under dash from memory. That what my mate took out of his XB Wagon.

FACTORY air con for the XB on was intergrated, ie it used existing vents. The evaporator unit was built in behind the gloveobx. Actually XW on had intergrated air but the earlier models (before XA) had extra vents.

Theey also had a folding armrest type thing in the middle which sometimes (illegally) could be used as an extra seat. There was no seat belt in the middle.

Thanks gents for your replies.I have managed to get a look at an XB brochure and it looks like the folding armrest/illegal extra seat is the winner.Does anyone know how it was mounted?

There are 3 types of air con you can encounter with the XBs. Factory air uses the vents including the blocked off one which sits under the ash tray. Dealer fitted air sits under the dash but runs under the dash on the passengers side and matches the con

Having drove most models of Falcon Taxis during my mis-spent youth I do not recall seeing the centre armrest thingy with seat belts. Although you could get a split bench which also came out in Fairlanes that did have set belts. It was a bonus for a cab to

The reason I asked the air con question is because I have a coupe which is a factory column auto.It has an under dash vent unit which extends from the passenger side to the steering column. It is colour matched to the dash and has "Selectair" and

The question you were asking about how the `illegal' seat is mounted - there is a metal base (about an inch thick and shaped to take the base of the lower cushion - also has brackets on the back which the armrest bit hinges from. ) This base is bolted to
