My Vectra has just managed to travel at 90kph without me applying my foot to the accelerator! The problem is intermittant and several mechanics and thousands of dollars have failed to rectify it. The brakes are as hard to depress as a tennis ball when this occurs. I can also sit at traffic lights with my foot on the brake and the car revs madly (embarrassing). We have now spent so much on this car we can't afford to get rid of it. Has any one else had this problem? Help.

I haven't seen this prob on a vectra, but I have on a VN V6, and it was a leaky brake booster that caused it.


The hard brakes you mention is a clue.
