a friend has a steep driveway and every time I enter I scrape the exhaust pipe, what is worse every time I exit the exhaust takes a chunk out of the bitumen.

Recently he had a trench dug along the driveway and they replaced the bitumen.

Unfortunately the replaced bitumen sits lower than the road and there is a lip so now my exhaust clears the first part on exit then catches the step and this really pushed back my exhaust pipe and took a chunk out of the step.

I am infuriated because now my exhaust rattles occasionally because it has deformed due to the driveway.

Can I get my car fixed and send the bill to the council or at least get them to make the driveway less steep?
