Hi,

Even a few of the five star generals who contribute to anything and everything on the Holden discussion forum here go wildly off at a tangent with a huge number of topics. I am new on here and am learning a lot about the cars that I have owned and am interested in. I have a project at present that needs some help but it can become very frustrating when I discover some very useful stuff in a topic that isn't related in any way. I have used the search function many times to help me locate a particular topic or subject but all too often that topic moves on to something unrelated and useless very quickly. On the other hand you can get snippets of useful stuff from a completely unrelated topic simply by following the coloured words that pop up when you do the search.

I read with much interest all the debate concerning Moderators and the deleting/editing of posts. It would be much better to have the Moderators put a stop to the wandering from the topic related input. The post on the Monaro vs Falcon GT prices is a classis example of what happens all too often on here. I read with disbelief how the topic got onto Fairlanes and salesman selling aids. Surely if these contributors have nothing better to do than try to boost brownie points by posting anything and everthing then the Moderators should be deleting furiously to keep the identified topic clear and focused for the benefit of all and in particular to make the search function of some worth.

DA

I agree with you on some posts, but I don't see an issue with this one. The Fairlane/Statesman discussion initially kicked off by Warren added to the post in my honest opinion as it was intended to support the discussion. After all it's a forum, not

I agree with my fellow forum mechanic above. We are all here because we are enthusiasts and therefore some times we become a bit enthusiastic and off topic in our conversations. Yes I am guilty of this on occasion.

Gentlemen,

Thanks a lot for the insight. I think I may have too high an expectation in some areas when it comes to discussing specific topics. I can certainly relate to the comment concerning discussing Holdens in a real pub and that is why I have come

DAB, feel free to complain within a post if persons are wandering off topic if you started the post, like the one you put up about HQ 1837 clutch setup. Just give them a gentle nudge like "hey, this is my topic buzz off and start your own" or something li
