Hi

This has probably been asked 100 times before.

I have a HQ monaro sedan and want to install power steering in it as it's currently manual steering. What bit and piece's do i need to complete the job.

Is this a basic conversion from manual to power steering.

Thanks
Michael.

With an HQ, you already have the correct steering arms, so most of your issues will be correct pump & bracketry for whatever engine you have.

If it's a 253/308 you will only need the one bracket, along with the correct spacers, washers, bolts & crank pulley.

If it's a 350 V8 it will be a different story.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Thanks Dr Terry.

Yeah its a 253. Theres a complete unit on e-bay for $500. Does anyone sell these units rebuilt and complete.? Or is e-bay/wreckers my best bet to get everything needed.

Does the Steering shaft and coupling need to be replaced aswell.?

Thanks
Michael

steering shaft is the same, coupling is bigger and bolts to the steering box which has a bigger shaft than a manual one,try get it all out a working car ,that way you'll know how to fit it back.then again you can nearly buy a whole car for that price and sell the rest off!P.S Recon is really the best way to go.
