A stock carby 308 is the easiest swap for what you need.

The VT dash would require some serious work. Why don't you just clean up your dash & fit a HZ GTS instrument cluster ?

Dr Terry
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

That's not quite right as it depends on the engine block itself for instance a Chevrolet 396 is a big block yet a Chevrolet 400 is a small block. Chrysler made a 360 small block and a 361 big block at the same time. The Ford 390 is a big block. Technically a Ford 302 Cleveland is a big block.

Hi Corey
I have just completed a conversion on my 77HZ from a 253 auto to a 185KW i believ 304. I took off all the EFI and put on a low rise dual plane manifold, fitted a holley 600, lighten the fly wheel and installed a group A Crow cam and fitted a aussie 4 speed M21. It was a bery easy change over no cuting to fit anything it all just bolted in..runs real well

Just a thought

Cheers

Andy

except its not legal to bung a carby on a 304.

The worst part about a HZ 308 conversion is finding workable switches/egr for the pollution crap, and in factory trim they are deadset gutless.

If you dont care about emissions compliance (i dont) then go nuts, but if you need it to be legal to the full extent of the laws, id be looking at a complete 304 EFI conversion.

You can buy a whole car for less than a 308 rebuild, and just transfer over the parts, its not a hard job and anything you might need is off the shelf.

Yeah I agree with Phill(greenhj),,its kinda pointless getting a fuel injected motor then putting a carby back on(you pretty much would have that performance now).As he says get a full car that runs well.the benefit of injection is too good to change, power and economy.Trust us,and the people on here will help you out with any problems.

i would go the 304 injected they are easy to do and as mention cheaper than a rebuild good power and good fuel economy as well

I am in the process of putting a 304 in my WB and along with the increased power and economy over the 253 i am looking forward to a car that is more drivable, hot or cold, no flat spots.
